臺灣鐵道之父 長谷川謹介
1906年出任臺灣總督府鐵道部長,以「速成延長主義」主導縱
貫線建設,選定打狗(高雄)為縱貫鐵道終點。縱貫鐵道對臺灣
社會有深遠影響,長谷川因而被稱為臺灣鐵道之父。
FATHER OF TAIWAN'S RAILWAY: KINSUKE HASEGAWA
In 1906, Kinsuke Hasegawa was appointed to be the head of the Railways Administration
of the Taiwan Governor-General's Office. His principle of "quick-spread" policy guided the
construction of the Trunk Railway, which later became the Trunk Line. Takao (Kaohsiung)
was selected to be the terminal station. The Trunk Railway had a profound influence on
Taiwanese society, which is why Hasegawa is referred to as the father of Taiwan's railways.
